I remember shooting this image like it was yesterday. I was living in Vegas, and I was off work early. Tt was warm in Vegas. I decided to pack up my 4×5 gear, load it into my trusty red wagon and head down to the Fremont Street Experience. It was a bit crowded, but not too bad. I extended my large tripod, stepped up on my small step ladder to get a shot above everyone’s head, and you see the result here.

I wait at this station most mornings. I arrive at about 4:15am, and wait until 4:30am when the train leaves. Sometimes I hum the lyrics to the Tom Petty song “The Waiting”: “The waiting is the hardest part. Every day you see one more card. You take it on faith, you take it to the heart. The waiting is the hardest part.”
